Personal Boundary
Personal Boundary

When you set up personal boundaries is the point to keep people out or to keep yourself in? The same question can be asked anytime a wall is built, whether it is real or imaginary. I have been reading books lately on the history of the Jewish/Arab conflict in the Middle East as well as the rise of power of Hitler. (I know, heavy reading, right?) I am struck by the intense and single minded voice of each of the historical characters, whether it be Anwar Sadat, Menachem Begin or Hitler himself. Walls are made to be inflexible, just like the beliefs of the people who build them. This vessel speaks of all boundaries and how dangerous they can look and yet how fluid they can be in reality. This is also true of personal boundaries and how vigilant one must be to keep them maintained and in good working order so as to keep everyone in their place.
