Spiral

This basket is directly inspired by a trip to Yellowstone I made this past February. One evening, while we were out looking for wolves, I looked behind us as we were driving west. The sun was hitting one of the mountain peaks in the park and the Absaroka Mountains were this amazing shade of blue.

We spent some time standing and taking pictures. The rest of the crowd got back in the van to take pictures of some bison further down the road and I was all by myself for a few glorious moments, breathing in the cold air, the mysterious quality of the light and the silence of the land. When I turned to look at the bison, I realized that they were headed to the river which was reflecting the same blue as the sky. It was a magical moment. When I got home, I picked up this blue yarn and started playing with it. This is one of the results.
